Monthly Clubs
Dear Jane Club
  1st Thursday of each month at 1pm
We are having a great time with our handpiecing. Pattye Kent from Bay City has become our
fearless leader and is an expert at encouraging quilter's to enjoy the method of needle and thread.
Some of the gals are working on Dear Jane the traditional way. Some are trying English Paper Piecing. Some are using wool and some are using cotton. Some of the gals are not working on Dear Jane at all but the Farmer's Wife is their handpiecing project. The cost is just $10.00 per month. Isn't it good to help someone in need and Quilter's do it “sew” well !! We have donated pillowcases to many of our local health agencies and we would like to continue to be bring joy and a touch of sunshine to others but we need your help. We need sewers, cutters and pressers. We need you !! We will provide the free lunch and each time we meet we will have a project and a charity designated for our donation. BOM - Block of the Month
Supply list are available when you sign up for a class or if you reserve your spot by phone you
must stop and get the supply list. When coming to a class that involves your machine please bring it in
good working order and bring all general quilting supplies, small rotary mat, cutter, pins, scissors, etc. If
you are attending a full day class bring a sack lunch or enjoy one our area resturants and dessert and
beverages will be provided. Water and coffee are available always.

Annual Thumb Shop Hop 
October 5-7, 2017 - $10.00 passports, available after August 1st
Our annual store shop hop with The Front Porch, The Stitching Well, Sew Crazy and The
Backstreet Quilt Shop. The theme for 2017 is barns. A great quilt that will honor the building of our heritage and our livelihood. Enjoy the fall colors on display in the farmland of the Thumb and the Quilt Blocks of the Thumb Quilt Trail that celebrates community through History, Barn Preservation, and Quilts. Mark your calendar to join us and receive all the benefits of this shop hop – 20% off in each store and great prizes.

Quilter’s R & R
Thurs – Sunday, May 4-7, May 11-14, Nov 2-5 and Nov 9-12, 2017 - $240.00
per person based on double occupancy. Some limited single rooms available.
Our Quilter's R&R last fall were very successful – so much so that we have reserved 5 week-ends
in 2017 to offer this time again. The 4 day retreat gives you the chance to check-in, recover, rest and relax and just get taken care of. A massage therapist and nail specialist for a pedicure or manicure will be available on Saturday. Delicious food, relax around the fireplace, and let the worries float away. The weekend bonus – never do the dishes!!!! Bay Shore Camp and Family Ministries will be our destination and the Family Center and Amby Lodge make for wonderful accommidations, where each quilter has an 8ft table, lots of extra space to bring all your must have quilting tools. We will supply the cutting stations, ironing boards irons and prizes. Call us today – the spots are filling up fast.

Monthly/Weekly Sewing Times:

Finish it Thursdays – This has become one of the best days of the week for us here and the classroom at the Backstreet Quilt Shop is all yours – every Thursday, all day and the staff is here to answer questions or to help solve a quilting problem – the fellowship is special and lunch is served at noon. Bring you own lunch or $5.00 per person to cover lunch expense. Beverages and dessert are on the house. Store host: Staff

PMS Night – Jan 6, Feb 3, Mar 3, April 7, May 5, Sept 1, Oct 13 and Nov 3, 2017. 
What IS This???? Pizza, Munchies and Sewing of Course !!! Every 1st Friday night of the month starting anytime after 4pm to 10pm – the classroom is open and hosted by one of the gals from the store…bring your machine or hand project and join us. You will be amazed at what you can get done and what fun it is with other quilters’. Cost: $5.00 per person. Store Host: Staff

Whimpy Challenge Saturday – The dates for 2017 are: Saturday, Feb 25th, May 20th, Aug 19th, and Nov 18th. Check the date, clear your schedule, mark the calendar but do whatever it takes to join us for the ever popular and fun mystery “Whimpy Challenge Saturday!” When you sign up you will be given a few clues – just enough for you to be prepared for the sewing time and rather it is a fabric exchange mystery or a “married” to your fabric mystery. (“Married” means you get to keep your fabric choice) The day is full of sewing, good food and quilter's fellowship. Our space is limited to 20 and the cost is $20.00 per person. Price includes morning break, lunch and supper. The day starts at 9am and we sew until 8pm. The sewing place is the Farm Bureau Building behind McDonald's Food and Family, Bad Axe.

wool applique on cotton and home spun fabrics using basic embroidery stitches $24.99 per month plus

Antique Buttermold BOM  
60” by 60” - first Saturday of each month (Feb-July)
A great beginner's wool applique quilt using Civil War Reproduction fabrics and large wool pieces. This project uses the blanket stitch and stem stitch. $24.99 per month plus pattern

Farm Girl Vintage Sampler BOM 
63” by 77” - 2nd Saturday of each month (starting in March)
Life is good on the farm and many of us lived a happy childhood growing up in the sunshine, surrounded
by our grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Our parents taught us to work hard, go to church and
play. Our mothers taught us to sew. This quilt will help bring back the memories of grandma's apron,
mom's dress, your clothing and useful items for the kitchen or goodness from our garden's. The animals
of the farm were as important as family and we knew them by name. SOW, we've got much to do and
just a few hours from sunrise to sunset, so let's plow on! $18.99 per month plus pattern book. (4-12”
blocks per month)

Creative Stitches 
Tuesday, April 11th , 25th , May 9th , 23rd and June 6th at 1pm
Using Sue Spargo's Creative Stitching book we use learn and stitch many of her stitches that
embellish her wonderful and bright wool quilts. We will create a stitch dictionary for future reference
as you discover the world of stitching through her eye. Join us for the fun. 
Class fee: $40.00 plus
