Dear Jane Club
1st Thursday of each month at 1pm
We are having a great time with our handpiecing. Pattye Kent from Bay City has become our fearless leader and is an expert at encouraging quilter's to enjoy the method of needle and thread. Some of the gals are working on Dear Jane the traditional way. Some are trying English Paper Piecing. Some are using wool and some are using cotton. Some of the gals are not working on Dear Jane at all but the Farmer's Wife is their handpiecing project. The cost is just $10.00 per month. Mission Sewing Club
the 2nd Friday of the month – Oct 13th, and Nov 10th, 2017
Isn't it good to help someone in need and Quilter's do it “sew” well !! We have donated pillowcases to many of our local health agencies and we would like to continue to be bring joy and a touch of sunshine to others but we need your help. We need sewers, cutters and pressers. We need you !! We will provide the free lunch and each time we meet we will have a project and a charity designated for our donation. Supply list are available when you sign up for a class or if you reserve your spot by phone you must stop and get the supply list. When coming to a class that involves your machine please bring it in good working order and bring all general quilting supplies, small rotary mat, cutter, pins, scissors, etc. If you are attending a full day class bring a sack lunch or enjoy one our area resturants and dessert and beverages will be provided. Water and coffee are available always.
Annual Thumb Shop Hop

Our annual store shop hop with The Front Porch, The Stitching Well, Sew Crazy and The Backstreet Quilt Shop. The theme for 2017 is barns. A great quilt that will honor the building of our hertiage and our livelyhood. Enjoy the fall colors on display in the farmland of the Thumb and the Quilt Blocks of the Thumb Quilt Trail that celebrates community through History, Barn Preservation, and Quilts. Quilter’s R & R
Thurs – Sunday, Nov 2-5 and Nov 9-12 and Monday – Thursday Nov 13-16, 2017- $240.00 per person based on double occupancy, limited private housing is available for $260.00 per person. Lots of space left in the Nov 13-16 retreat – join us while the men are hunting....
Our Quilter's R&R are very successful – The 4 day retreat gives you the chance to check-in, recover, rest and relax and just get taken care of. A massage therapist and nail specialist for a pedicure or manicure will be available on Saturday. Delicious food, relax around the fireplace, and let the worries float away. The weekend bonus – never do the dishes!!!! Bay Shore Camp and Family Ministries will be our destination and the Family Center and Amby Lodge make for wonderful accommadations, where each quilter has an 8ft table, lots of extra space to bring all your must have quilting tools. We will supply the cutting stations, ironing boards irons and prizes. Call us today – the spots are filling up fast.

This has become one of the best days of the week for us here and the classroom at the Backstreet Quilt Shop is all yours – every Thursday, all day and the staff is here to answer questions or to help solve a quilting problem – the fellowship is special and lunch is served at noon. Every 1st Friday night of the month starting anytime after 4pm to 10pm – the classroom is open and hosted by one of the gals from the store…bring your machine or hand project and join us. Whimpy Challenge Saturday
The dates for 2017 are: Aug 19th, and Nov 18th.
Check the date, clear your schedule, mark the calendar but do whatever it takes to join us for the ever popular and fun mystery “Whimpy Challenge Saturday!” When you sign up you will be given a few clues – just enough for you to be prepared for the sewing time and rather it is a fabric exchange mystery or a “married” to your fabric mystery. (“Married” means you get to keep your fabric choice) The day is full of sewing, good food and quilter's fellowship. Our space is limited to 20 and the cost is $20.00 per person. Price includes morning break, lunch and supper. The day starts at 9am and we sew until 8pm. The sewing place is the Farm Bureau Building behind McDonald's Food and Family, Bad Axe.

Somewhere in Time
First Saturday of Every Month starting in September 2017 at 9:30am. This BOM by Primitive Gatherings is not for the faint of heart – the stitching is beautiful and the finished project is gorgeous !!! A 17 month program is what makes for a incredible journey. This project is intermediate to advanced stitcher. Rich wool colors on a cotton background is truly a must have quilt for wool and hand stitches alike. The only difference is that this time the original instructions will include the embellished stitches and borders that were creaed by barbie. 13 month program. How Does Your Garden Grow
First Saturday of Every Month starting in Septemer 2017 at 9:30am This is a great beginners wool project on a cotton background and finished with a variety of scrapes for the stripes from your own stash. Border fabric and background fabric is included in the monthly kit. 12 month program. My Sewing Tote
Monday, Sept 11 and Tuesday, Sept 19 10am – 4pm This great sewing tote will take 2 weeks to complete but it is worth the effort. Week one will be spent preparing and handstitching the wool applique. Week two will construct the bag and the great outside pockets. Class fee:$35 for both weeks plus pattern and supplies.
Tuffets, Round or Square
Tuesday, Sept 12 and Wed Sept 13 – 10am – 4pm If you make a tuffet round you can do it in one day but if the square tuffet is your style then it will take two days to complete. Class fee: $25.00 plus pattern and supplies

Friday, Sept 15 at 10am – 4pm Countdown the days 'til Christmas on the Chalkboard Fabric Cloud. The redwork embroidery in redwork is Fun for all Ages. Class Fee; $25.00 plus pattern and supplies
Chilled to the Nines
Tuesday, Sept 23 at 10m – 4m This happy wool table runner is the perfect beginners wool project. Learn the basic method to apply the wool and two basic stitches. Class fee: $25.00 plus pattern and supplies
The Boxy Tote
Friday, Sept 29 or Sat, Sept 30 at 10am – 4:30pm Our dear friend Terrie will be here to lead this great class that is designed by Penny Sturges. The Boxy Tote is perfect for toting the wonderful Siner Featherweight. Loaded with pockets inside and out and heavy duty stays that help to keep the tote wide open. We could go on and on about the many uses of this tote but we let you see for yourself. Class fee: $25.00 plus pattern and supplies.
Crazy Pumpkin Trio
Monday, Oct 2 at 10am – 4pm Learn to crazy quilt in this simple project. Wool and thread is all you need and basic stitches. Class fee: $25.00 plus pattern and supplies
Beginning Quilt Making 101
Tuesday Oct 10 – Tuesday, Ot 31 at 1pm Barbie will teach the basic quilt skills that every quilter needs to know. Rotary cutting, pinning, pressing and how to apply borders. Each week the conversation will answer questions, provide encouragement and help you gain confidence in making your first quilt. Class Fee: $40.00 plus pattern and supplies.
Advanced Quilt Making
Monday, Oct 9 – Monday, Oct 30 at 1pm For those who want more instructions or encouragement as you proceed along the quilt making trail. Confidence is the key to good quilt construction and The Backstreet Quilt Shop is where to find it. Class Fee: $40.00 plus pattern and supplies
Monday, Sept 25th 10am - 4pm Class Fee: $10.00 plus supplies. This is a cute cotton rug that will brighten up any area of your home that needs a special touch. Uses one charm pack and some coordinating fabric. It is an easy sew project.
Cathedral Window by Machine
Wednesday, Sept 27 at 1pm Class fee: $10.00 plus template pattern. Bring fabric from you stash and we will show you how to make the traditional cathedral window using your sewing machine instead of needle and thread.
